The Truth About the Sabbath.

God rested on the 7th day after creating the earth and expects us to honor Him by resting on the 7th day of the week also.

In fact, this was an Old Testament law. One of the ten commandments handed down to Moses on Mt. Sinai. To rationalize Sunday as a day of worship to the Lord, many refer to the New Testament and claim Jesus came to fulfill the law for us. Here is one bible verse they use to back this up: Mathew 5: verse 17: Do not think that I came to destroy the laws of the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. The problem with using this verse or any other verse, is that it's misinterpreted. How do we know this? We happened to read on: 18: For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks the least of one of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. So we are to keep the commandments, including the 4th: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy.

How did Sunday become a day of worship for both Catholics and Christians? Many date it back to the year 321 when on March 17th, the Roman Emperor at the time, Constantine, declared Sunday to be a day of rest for all workers. The Catholic church adopted it as their day to hold mass and the Christians soon after followed suit. Now for 1700+ years, people have been setting aside Constantine's day of rest and not God’s Day of rest.

So, is this really a big deal? I guess that depends on how big a deal your love for God is. Imagine being God, you make it perfectly clear which day the Sabbath is and how important that day is, but instead of keeping THAT day Holy, you pick a different day selected by man.

But what can I do about it, all the churches in my area meet on Sunday? There is nothing wrong with going to church on Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, or any day of the week. You don't have to stop going to your church. Here is a list of things you CAN and SHOULD do:

1. Observe the true Sabbath personally. Take this day off, rest, and keep it Holy.
2. Share the truth to others in your church, especially the most influential ones.
3. This is a movement, be part of it by sharing with others outside your church as well. This could be as easy as referring them to this website.
4. Pray! Praying for guidance from the Lord will please Him and reward you with direction.
